About Chidambaram Yoga
The Evolution of Chidambaram Yoga Center
June 14, 2009
After extensive study and experience gained teaching in other programs, Michelle Demes founded Chidambaram Yoga. Her style is based on Hatha Yoga principles combining the foundational benefits of Yoga with powerful energy techniques. Michelle’s pursuit of alternative paths to healing began in the early 90’s when her daughter was diagnosed with Autism. Finding traditional therapies to be limited in scope and results, Michelle’s commitment and continuing pursuit to expand her influence in this critical area led to an invitation to teach a Certification Program that would help other practitioners and caregivers learn to teach Yoga to children with disabilities. During this time, Michelle realized that even more needed to be, and could be done to expand both the reach and positive impact of her Yoga teachings.
She began to pursue, evaluate and study other forms of healing techniques and energy work. Michelle decided to formalize her own approach to broad-based healing, energy revitalization and stress relief. She established Chidambaram Yoga to provide a range of integrated techniques and teaching perspectives. Michelle has found that this approach better benefits her daughter and her students. Using this unique approach to combining Yoga and energy work, Michelle finds that she is better able to address her students’ emotional and physical needs in a much more comprehensive way. As a driven seeker of knowledge and results, Michelle learns from each experience. In all these ways, she plans to continually evolve her knowledge and techniques so that the many benefits of Yoga combined with complimentary disciplines will promote better health and living for her students.
